Camp Quality wins PwC Transparency AwardCamp Quality, the children’s family cancer charity, has won a national PwC Transparency Award for its annual report.PriceWaterhouseCoopers introduced the PwC Transparency Awards in 2007 after recognizing that the public were increasingly cynical about charities and the NFP sector’s use of donations and government grants, and identifying that government funders, philanthropists and social investors expect NFPs to report their financial performance, governance arrangements and risk management strategy in a transparent manner. Undertaken in collaboration with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia and the Centre for Social Impact, the Awards recognise and encourage improvement in the quality and transparency of reporting in the Australian Not for Profit sector. Camp Quality won in the $5million to $20million revenue category for the 2009-10 financial year with awards presented at a ceremony last week. “Camp Quality’s annual report is extremely impressive in all aspects,” says Jury spokesman, Rupert Myer of the Myer Family Foundation. “It would be a most useful document for stakeholders and staff alike. The design and articulation of strategies and the efforts made to describe and measure outputs and impacts are commendable. The website is a useful resource for parents and carers seeking information about the organisation and its programs.” Opportunity International came second to Camp Quality, Mission Australia won the award in the category for NFPs with a revenue over $20m with Oxfam as runner-up. Plan International won the Most Improved Award.
