TIA drives SA energy deals with Qld Back

25 November 2010

SOUTH Australian technology companies will help Queenslanders get smarter about their energy use in a potential $10 million deal.

The Technology Industry Association is heading up talks with Ergon - the state's equivalent of local electricity supplier ETSA - and the Urban Land Development Authority to smart-fit up to 1600 homes in Mackay, Townsville and Gladstone.

Details are still being worked out, but the TIA says it is close to providing actual specifications on the products to the Urban Land Development Authority soon.

TIA chief executive Steve Adcock said the talks had been very successful and could open up more opportunities with other states, including WA and NSW.

TIA is the industry's peak body in South Australia, representing the $7.5 billion technology sector.
