Speakers in Schools finalist in Excellence Awards Back

05 October 2010

The Advantage SA Speakers in Schools program is a finalist in the 2010 Technology Industry Association Excellence Awards.

The Speakers in Schools program assists in addressing the State’s future needs in the areas of population and workforce. The program engages young professionals to visit schools around the State, encouraging and inspiring young people to follow their career aspirations here in South Australia.

The Speakers in Schools program involves professionals, under the age of 45, who visit schools across the State and inspire students with their career success stories.

Speakers receive access to training and professional development forums and become part of a network of like-minded South Australians who want to make a difference.

Since its inception more than four years ago, an audience of over 80,000 students across the State have seen presentations from the program’s 400 speakers. The program delivers around 400 presentations a year to schools across the State.

Thanks to the support of the Government of South Australia, BHP Billiton and ElectraNet this program is offered to schools at no cost.

Speakers in Schools is a finalist in the category of 'Support of Electronics & ICT Education for an individual company’.

This award recognises a company that has excelled in its active commitment to supporting Educational Institutions or the career path of Electronics and/or ICT students. This may include involvement in career promotion to high school students or providing support to educational institutions.

The winner will be announced at the Excellence Awards Gala Dinner on Friday 29 October at the Stamford Grand Hotel.
