On 21 October Advantage SA CEO Nikki Seymour-Smith helped launch the greatly anticipated Beneath the Southern Cross– An Aerial Portrait Of South Australia.

The project, likely never to be repeated, has been rolled out the State’s favorite charity, Little Heroes Foundation. Beneath the Southern Cross is a photographic masterpiece, a magnificent coffee table book and photographic exhibition recording some the State’s most iconic and picturesque landmarks and landscapes from the air.

The book and exhibition is a South Australian first and showcasesimages taken by renowned and award winning Australian photographer, Stavros Pippos. Stavros elevates the ordinary to the extraordinary, capturing each moment of exceptional light with artistic precision, all through the open door of a helicopter.

The book showcases an impressive collection of 82 photos, including 11 historic images,  which capture the very essence of the South Australian landscape, from the brilliant red sand-dunes of the Simpson Desert to the towering ocean cliffs of the Great Australian Bite as well as unique pieces including the Royal Adelaide Show’s side show alley at night.

From these 71 new photos the artist has announced a special collection of 12 limited edition pieces.  These are currently on show at the Wine Centre and available for purchase.

Project partners, Imagination Ventures and Stavros Pippos plan to raise up to $500,000 for Little Heroes Foundation to buy a new MRI machine for the Women’s and Children’s Hospital and establish a new state-of-the-art cancer centre, due for completion in 2012.
