11 October 2010
The Adelaide Convention Bureau in 2009-10 attracted event business forecast to draw 152,519 bed nights and $105.17 million to South Australia.
This represents a 28% increase on the previous year with eight international events won generating $35 million in economic activity.
Five conferences are being held during October as a result of Bureau bid activity. These meetings will account for 12,176 bed nights with a resultant economic impact of $3.87m.
Adelaide Convention Bureau Chairman, Phil Baker reported the organisation’s results at the AGM held this week at the Next Generation Memorial Drive.
The Bureau also welcomed Michael Sfera to the board for the 2010-11 year and thanked outgoing board member Cindy Hines for her contribution.
