Save the date for the Barossa this Vintage Festival Back

10 November 2010

WHAT: The 2011 Barossa Vintage Festival
WHEN: Saturday 23 April to Sunday 1 May
WHERE: The ‘Barossa’ of course…

The Barossa region will come to life this Easter long weekend with more than 100 events over nine days, celebrating the 64th Barossa Vintage Festival.

Officially Australia’s largest and longest running wine and food tourism festival, the nine day event showcases the rich diversity of the Barossa region and traditionally celebrates the end of vintage, something which is central to the culture and economy of the Barossa.

More than 50,000 visitors will be treated to exclusive wine tastings, twilight concerts, markets, free community town days, cooking schools, literary events and much more.

Barossa Vintage Festival Chairman, Bill Biscoe, believes that the 2011 program is one of the most diverse in the 64 year history of the Festival.

“The old favourites are back, including the Rare and Distinguished Barossa Wine Auction, Legends Behind the Barrel and the Distinguished Vineyards Tour,” Bill said.

“Other highlights include the re-vamped Jazz in the Cellar, Big Bold and Brassy and our new Comedy in the Vines evening which stands to rouse a belly laugh or two.

“Scarecrows will once again adorn the landscape, and we look forward to the unveiling of a large community Scarecrow made of recycled vineyard and winery waste.” He said.

The Vintage Festival Parade (The Southern Hemisphere’s longest parade) and the Barossa Air Show are also set to be a hit with the whole family.

Visit Australia's premier wine region this Easter long weekend and experience the very best of Barossa - wine, food, music, art, culture and tradition.

The official schedule will be released November 19.
