18 October 2010

Advantage SA has welcomed a new Chair and three dynamic new members to the Board at the organisation’s Annual General Meeting this morning.

Frank Filosi, General Manager, Network 10 Adelaide will assume the role of Board Chair. His appointment will see this role returning to the media, which continue to provide millions of dollars worth of media coverage for the organisation.

South Australian Film Producer David Lightfoot, Designer Liza Emanuele and Austereo General Manager James Pedersen will be joining the Board, bringing a wealth of experience from across the creative and small business sectors, and broadcast media.

New Advantage SA Chair Frank Filosi said that he was looking forward to commencing his new role.

“I’m excited about the opportunity to lead the Advantage SA Board at what is a particularly exciting time for the organisation as it continues to evolve under the new brand Advantage SA.”

“Advantage SA plays an important role both within and outside of the State as the positive voice of South Australia. It fearlessly promotes the key advantages of the State through a number of important campaigns, programs and initiatives. I’m honoured to be appointed as Chair and lead the Advantage SA Board towards making that voice even greater.”

“Advantage SA is a multi-faceted communications organisation that was founded more than 25 years ago by the South Australian media. The organisation uniquely connects media, Government and the corporate sector.”

“The Board’s strong media representation which spans across the State’s print, radio and television networks is a key point of difference for the organisation and allows Advantage SA to continue to maximise the State’s future prosperity.”

In addition to Frank’s role, this morning’s AGM confirmed the appointment of Ish Davies, Managing Director, Advertiser Newspapers as Deputy Chair, and James Pedersen as Treasurer, with all officer positions on the Board being representatives from the South Australian media.

Advantage SA’s media partner network provided more than $4.7 million worth of positive media exposure for the organisation and the State in FY10.

Advantage SA CEO Nikki Seymour-Smith said that Frank Filosi’s appointment, along with the three new appointments would prove beneficial for the organisation.

“Frank Filosi’s appointment as Chair, along with the three new appointments will bring a wealth of experience and a diversity of skills to the Advantage SA Board.”

“Frank has been a valuable member of the Advantage SA Board for some years now, most recently as Deputy Chair, and we (Advantage SA) have no doubt he will make a brilliant Chair. The organisation receives unwavering support from the South Australian media and it is ideal to have our Chair as a representative from this sector.”

“We are thrilled to have David, James and Liza on the Board. Collectively, they bring more than 60 years experience to the Board across the creative and radio industries. David is one of the most experienced film producers in the country and Liza’s designs continue to be well received locally and interstate. James brings to the Board more than 10 years experience in management and financial roles across radio, in South Australia and interstate, and is a member of CPA Australia.”

“All three are proud South Australians, who call this State home, with David and Liza operating successful businesses and careers nationally and internationally. We (Advantage SA) are pleased to have David, James and Liza on our Board and look forward to their contribution towards the future success of the State.”
